LFY Translate Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 4, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how LFY Translate and its account service handle information when you use the LFY Translate browser extension, the LFY Translate account service, or the official Zotero Assistant download service.
1. Information we handle
- Account information: email address, nickname, registration source, account status, and account activity needed for authentication and account support.
- Authentication information: password verification data, email verification codes while they are being processed, and session tokens. Passwords and verification codes are not stored in the browser as persistent plaintext data.
- Webpage content: visible text that you ask the extension to translate. The extension does not intentionally collect your complete browsing history.
- Technical information: IP address, request time, browser/extension platform, installation identifier, error information, and security or rate-limit events.
- Desktop licensing information: desktop entitlement type and dates, current bound device, and a keyed one-way digest of the device fingerprint used to prevent repeated trial claims. The raw trial fingerprint is not stored in the trial-claim table.
- Usage information: selected translation provider, model, token counts, task status, and download/update events. These records help operate the service, enforce limits, and troubleshoot failures.
- Local extension data: translation preferences and any API key or provider configuration that you choose to save. These settings are stored by the browser and are used to send requests to the provider you selected.
2. How information is used
- To provide webpage translation, bilingual rendering, account login, session verification, and account support.
- To send selected text to the translation engine that you choose. A provider may process that text under its own privacy terms.
- To provide account benefits, usage accounting, security checks, abuse prevention, rate limiting, diagnostics, and service updates.
- To provide a user-requested download of the official Zotero Assistant installer and to verify update metadata.
LFY Translate does not use webpage content, account information, or translation activity for advertising, behavioral profiling, or credit assessment.
3. Service providers and infrastructure
The service uses cloud-hosted, containerized application infrastructure and security-protected reverse-proxy endpoints. Private update installers are stored in private object storage and relayed through the official HTTPS service; cloud access credentials are kept on the server and are not sent to the extension or users.
Depending on your selected features, information may be processed by authentication/email delivery providers, cloud infrastructure providers, and the translation provider you select. These providers receive only the information needed for the requested service. We do not sell or rent user data.
4. Storage and retention
Account, session, entitlement, and usage records are retained as needed to provide the service, prevent abuse, maintain accounting records, and meet legal or security obligations. Security and download logs may be retained for operational monitoring. Local extension settings remain in your browser until you remove them or uninstall the extension.
Desktop trial-claim records may be retained after a trial ends so that reinstalling the application or changing accounts does not reset the one-device trial. A support administrator may release a claim after reviewing a device dispute; that action is recorded in an audit log.
We do not intentionally retain a complete copy of every webpage you translate in the account database. Translation providers may have their own retention policies, so review the policy of the provider you select before sending confidential material.
5. Security
Connections to the public account, update, and download endpoints use HTTPS. Access tokens and API credentials are handled by the extension background service and are not exposed to webpage content scripts. Server logs are designed to avoid recording passwords, access tokens, API keys, or cloud temporary credentials.
6. Your choices
- You may choose whether to sign in, which translation engine to use, and which pages to translate.
- You may remove saved extension settings and local API configuration through the extension settings or browser storage controls.
- You may sign out to revoke the local session. You may contact the service operator through the public LFY Translate website for account questions, correction requests, or deletion requests.
7. Children
The service is not directed to children under the age required by applicable law, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children for advertising or profiling.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the extension, account service, or data practices change. The latest version will remain available at this URL, with the revision date shown above.
9. Contact
For privacy questions or account requests, use the current contact channel published on pdf2zh.lfystat.cn. Please do not include passwords, API keys, access tokens, or private document content in a support request.
